The Jewish Community Foundation awards grants to non-profit organizations and programs that promote Jewish identity, support quality Jewish life and benefit the people of Southern Arizona and Jewish communities around the world.
2008 Call for Grants
Applications for the 2008 grant cycle are now available. The deadline to submit a proposals is February 18, 2008. All organizations interested in applying for a grant are invited to an Agency Open Forum on January 10, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.. For information about the grant application process, contact the Foundation.

The CommonUnity Program
Our Family Services, Inc.
A proactive prevention program for homeless, single, young mothers, providing a secure environment, services, education and advocacy, aimed at breaking the cycle of teen pregnancy, preventing child abuse in teen-parenting households and helping young families establish
new lives.
Crisis Shelter Program
Casa de los Niños
This 24/7 program meets the physical, emotional and developmental needs of children who have families in crisis, are victims of family violence, or are homeless. In addition to a warm bed, three meals, and clothing the children in shelter care receive medical and developmental services and their parents are provided education and family support services.
Dropout Prevention (Tafnit)
Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona
An intervention program to decrease dropout rates in Kiryat Malachi and the Hof Ashkelon region in Israel. This program trains teachers to work with academically weak students, ensuring their ongoing success in the classroom.
"Give Sight" Program
El Rio Foundation
Provides eyeglasses to 100 homeless or near-homeless people who have identified problems with sight, but have no other resources to correct their vision.
Hunger Relief for Jewish Elderly-E katerinburg & Periphery
Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona
Provides hunger relief, elder care and a link to the Jewish community for approximately 3,400 destitute Jews in this area of the former Soviet Union.
Jewish Sliding Scale Counseling
Jewish Family & Children's Service
Provides individualized psychological counseling within a context of Jewish values, designed to help children, adolescents, adults and families to improve emotional, behavioral and social functioning.
Monthly Stipend Program
Youth On Their Own
A dropout prevention program for homeless youth, providing a monthly $125 stipend to help them remain in school and graduate. Youth are referred by school, are living without parental support, must attend school regularly and receive passing grades.
Operation Promise
Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona
Enables the remaining Jews in Ethiopia to move to Israel and increases efforts to absorb Ethiopian immigrants in Israeli society.
Project Leket
Table to Table
A food rescue program that uses volunteers to glean 500 tons of produce each year, providing food for the hungry in Israel.
Senior Companion Transportation Program
Jewish Family & Children's Service
Provides gasoline and other costs associated with volunteers providing safe transportation for frail, older and disabled adults.
Special Needs Program
Youth On Their Own
Provides emergency or special needs assistance to homeless youth, such as one-time utility payment, food, clothing, transportation, or purchase of a musical instrument, sports uniform, etc. Youth must be attending school regularly and receive passing grades.
Sunnyside TeenAge Parent Program
El Rio Foundation
A comprehensive, school-based program of support health services to primarily Hispanic, low-income, teenage parents in the Sunnyside School District.
TLC Project: Providing Therapy, Treatment & Counseling
Counseling Center for Women
Provides therapy, treatment and counseling to low-income women who are victims of sexual violence and are referred by rape crisis centers, social services and other women’s organizations in Israel.
Transportation for the Elderly
Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona
Provides bus passes for elderly and disabled artisans who work at Yad LaKashish (Lifeline for the Old) in Jerusalem, Israel. Participants receive access to social services, such as meals, dental subsidies, eyeglass allowance, thrift shop, social worker, and more.
YEDID Citizens Rights Center -Kiryat Malachi
Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona
Support for the new Citizen Rights center in Kiryat Malachi, Israel, based on a model that has been successfully implemented in 22 economically challenged areas in the country.
